It is with great sadness that the family of Lilla Pauline (Polly) Lamy announces her death on October 1st 2011 in her 97th year.
Polly was born in Amherst; she was the daughter of the late George and Georgie (MacNeil) Hill. She was predeceased by her husband A.R. (Rob) Lamy and her daughter Sandra Joyce Latta.
Polly received a BA from Mount Allison University in 1936 and continued as a life long learner auditing courses from Mount Allison during most of her senior years. Throughout her life she was a member of numerous service organizations notably the IODE and the Hospital Auxiliary.
An avid lover of the outdoors Polly loved to garden, bird watch and especially play golf. Along with her husband Rob, Polly spent over 50 years playing golf at the Amherst golf course. Together they were instrumental in the expansion of the golf course from 9 to 18 holes. She possessed a passion for music, and enjoyed playing the piano for most of her life. Polly felt it was important to take time to admire her surroundings, often reminding others to take the time to appreciate.
Many will remember Polly for her kind and gentle spirit, and her true appreciation of life.
Her loss will be felt by her daughters Barbara Jean VanSnick, Tidnish; and Eleanor Ann (Bob) Nahrgang, Charlottetown; 8 grandchildren Rick (Jennifer) VanSnick, Ryan VanSnick, Chris (Heather) Latta, Robin (Gillian) Latta, Aaron (Beverly) Latta, Al (Barb) Nahrgang, Pollyann Nahrgang; Mary Jane (Andrew) MacKinnon; and her several great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her 3 nephews in California Paul (Jan); Vernon (Diane) and Eric Munson.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 p.m. in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, (6679906),
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 2 p.m. in Christ Church, Amherst with The Rev. Charlotte Ross officiating.
Interment will take place in the Amherst Cemetery.
Memorial donations in Polly’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre Foundation.
