The death occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, with family by his side, of Henry Grant of Oyster Bed Bridge, age 82.
Henry was the beloved husband of Stella (nee Peters) for 61 years; loving father of Owen (Tim Murray), Gail Swiat (Richard), Joan Palmer (Rod), Kathy McDonald (Len), Cindy Grant (Michael Arsenault) and Kimberley McKnight (Shawn); grandfather of Tammy Swiat-Cyr; Drew Rochester;Kelly and Jessica McDonald; Julia, Zachary and Melanie Arsenault; and Daegan and Teague McKnight; and great-grandfather of Jeffery and Katie Swiat-Cyr. Henry is also survived by his brother, George and wife Jeannette, Saint John; his sisters, Sadie Dumaresq (Selwyn “Buzz”), Ottawa and Stella Buckingham, Montreal; brother-in-law, Alfred Peters; sisters-in-law, Anita Doucette (Eric), Gloria Primeau and May Coffin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Georgianna (Patterson) Grant; brothers, Cameron, Charles, Albert and William; sisters, Beulah, Betty and Helen; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, South Rustico on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Augustine’s Church Cemetery.
The Knights of Columbus will hold a service at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.
