RAYNARD, Donald Grant – 67, of Raynardton, Yarmouth Co., passed away at Yarmouth Regional Hospital on September 24, 2011. Born May 17, 1944, in South Ohio, he was a son of the late Earle Sr. and Edith (Hamilton) Raynard. Donald was a charter member of the Lake Vaughan Volunteer Fire Department and a trustee of Greenlawn Cemetery. He was extensively involved in the Yarmouth County Agricultural Society and various community projects throughout Southwest Nova Scotia. He was known for being an avid hunter and a collector of antique tools. He worked diligently helping coordinate the Yarmouth Hospital Hullabaloo each year, and was also heavily involved in helping set up the Yarmouth Farmer’s Market. He is survived by wife, Carol (Cook); daughter, Jennifer (David) Rhyno, Lower Wedgeport; son, Jonathan Raynard (Mary Frigault), Moncton; twin brother, Earle (Judith) Raynard, Tusket Falls; brother, Gordon Raynard (Ginette Dulong), Raynardton; sisters, Jane (Sherman) Dauphinee, Raynardton; Lois (David) Armstrong, Bell Neck; grandchildren, Brandon, Dylan and twins, Megan and Justin; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Crematorium Ltd., Yarmouth. Visitation took place Monday, September 26 from 7-9 p.m. at Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral service was held Tuesday, September 27 at 2 p.m., Pastor Robert MacCormack officiated. Interment followed in Greenlawn Cemetery. Following the interment, a reception was held at the Lake Vaughan Volunteer Fire Department. Family flowers only, please.
