He was born in Hillsborough NB on January 20,1939. In his work as a forester Don travelled every road in the province. He could advise you on the best route to take in getting from here to there. He was happiest sitting beside a campfire with the stars overhead. Don travelled a large part of Canada and the USA. He was an avid canoeist and power boater cruising the Saint John River and its tributaries, the Florida Everglades, the lower Great Lakes and Atlantic Canada. Setting out from the Rocks, in an attempt to canoe the Petitcodiac River, he discovered after considerable effort he ended up where he started. In his earlier years he took up flying, in his later years he and Gerry looked forward to visiting Cuba enjoying the climate and hospitality of the many people they befriended. He is also survived by sisters: Kathyrn Steeves, Rita Renton (Allison), Ardeth Allen (Rev. John); brothers Cyril (Sadie), Gerald (Pauline) and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Frances Lillian (Steeves) and Alston Lewis Carlin, Donald was predeceased by a brother-in-law Bruce O. Steeves (Kathyrn) and a brother Douglas (Diana Steeves).
