It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Allister Lauchie MacDonald, following a lengthy illness on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011.
Born at Gabarus Lake, Allister Lauchie was the son of the late Donald John and Mary Effie (MacIntyre) MacDonald.
Allister was a long-time truck driver, working for Malcolm S. MacDonald for over 35 years and enjoyed listening to his fiddle music. Poppy will be forever remembered by his three sons for his unexpected gifts and kindness and especially, by his eight grandchildren for his trips to the candy store.
Allister is survived by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Eileen (Lund) MacDonald; sons, Allan (Anita), their children, Dylan, Jory, Lucas and Callie, Grand Mira South; Blair (Karen), their children, Matthew and Michael, Grand Mira South and Brad (Korena), their children, Mitchell and Lauren, Marion Bridge and his sister, Mae Brown, Grand Mira South. He is also survived by his in-laws, Johnny (Margie), Sydney River, Eddie (Kay), Front Lake, Christine (John), Sydney, Louise Cann, Marion Bridge, Jimmy, Grand Mira South, Mora Lund, Skir Dhu.
Besides his parents, Allister was predeceased by his daughter, Anne Louise, in infancy; brothers-in-law, Calvin Brown, Elmer, Gordon and David Lund and Wayne Cann; sisters-in-law, Bette Gillis, Evelyn Petrie and Frances Lund.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Zion-Wesley United Church on Thursday 11 a.m., with Nancy Whitney-Latham, DLM officiating. Interment in Zion Cemetery, Gabarus Lake.
Memorials may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Palliative Care or the VON.
