It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear brother, uncle and friend, David Voutier, on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Frederick and Edna (Yorke) Voutier.
David was employed as a stevedore with Marine Atlantic in North Sydney until his retirement in 2008. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed his time spent in Lake Ainslie, Margaree and Newfoundland. He enjoyed his weekly TV bingo and always looked forward to Sunday night cards with the boys.
He is survived by his siblings, Joan Voutier, Nanaimo, B.C., John (Wilma) Voutier, North Sydney, Kevin, Peterborough, Ont., Roddie (Noel) Voutier, North Sydney, Connie (Mike) Young, Long Island and Allan (Lisa), Grand Prairie, Alta. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces, Michael, Dennis, Megan, Kathleen, Johnathon, Corey, Adam and his faithful companions, Maggie and Jack, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins. Dave is also survived by his extended family Diane, Craig, Tracy and Dana Collins.
Visitation for Dave will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Carl Fraser officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or any charity.
