The death occurred at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, of Alice Courtney, of Summerside, aged 89 years. Born in Summerside, she was the daughter of the late William and Rose (Wedge-Aucoin) Gallant. Survived by her sons, Thomas (Jane) Courtney, North Carleton, Kenny Courtney, North Granville, Pat (Roma) Courtney, Summerside, daughter, Marlene Courtney, Bedeque, grandchildren, Parker (Karen), Dartmouth, N.S., Peter (Carmel), Beaverbank, N.S., Patti (Chris), Dartmouth, N.S., John (Cory), Moncton, N.B., Sahra (Roland), North Granville, Shannon, Kingston, Ont., Shawn (Jennifer), Dartmouth, N.S., Tara (Steven), Dartmouth, N.S., Noel, Oromocto, N.B., Nathan (Heather), Lantz, N.S., 13 great-grandchildren, sisters, Mildred Savidant, Summerside, and Irene Arsenault, Everett, MA. Predeceased by her husband, John “Jack” Courtney, her son, Danny Courtney, and by a brother, Willard Gallant. Resting at Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Thursday, then to St. Paul’s Church, Summerside, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Summerside. Visiting hours Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
