Eugene Pike

Passed peacefully away on October 3, 2011 at Chancellor Park, Eugene Pike aged 82 years. Predeceased by his parents Moses and Tamar, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 44 years Marilyn (nee Anthony); sons David (Trudy), and Greg (Lynn); four precious granddaughters Brooklyn, Allison, Lauren, and Maria; special niece Rose Hewitt (Ray); as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Eugene was the first blind person to graduate from Memorial University before joining the CNIB. Eugene worked with the CNIB his entire career, retiring as Executive Director. He was very active in the community through his efforts with the St. John’s Lions Club. Being an honorary life member, Eugene had also been the recipient of many awards - including the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. Special thanks to the management and staff of Chancellor Park for the exceptional care provided. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave., on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to be announced at a later date.
