CLEMENTS, William Gibson - 82, of Gibson Woods, Kings County, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Born in Gibson Woods, he was a son of the late Joseph and Evelena (Gibson) Clements. He had served with the West Nova Scotia Regiment for 21 years and was a member of the West Novies Memory Club. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Habitant Branch No. 73, Canning and Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville, where he retired as Chief Bar Steward. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Pauline States; three daughters, Margaret “Marney” (Pastor Galvin) Simmonds, Gibson Woods; Christine (David) McDowell, Coldbrook; Chrystal (Fred) Shaffee, Hamilton, Ontario; three sons, Christopher (Jackie), Richard (fiancee, Donna Davidson) and Anthony “Tony”, all of Gibson Woods; six sisters, Bessie Croxen, Bridgewater; Anne Ogletree-Parent, Detroit; Doris (Carl) Evans, Dartmouth; Fannie (Phillip) Brothers, Gibson Woods; Barbara Padmore and Carole Clements, both of Toronto; a sister-in-law, Phyllis (Harold) Clements, Gibson Woods; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Ruth, Frances (in infancy) and Evelyn; five brothers, Reginald, Barry, Mervyn, Harold and Allan. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2011, Pastor Galvin Simmonds officiating, assisted by Reverend Stephen Gough and Pastor Theresa Character. Burial took place in the Gibson Woods Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, the Canadian National Institute for the Blind or the charity of your choice.
