Simone Luron 1920-2009
Simone passed away peacefully on October 9, 2009 at the age of 89. Simone was born on the family farm northeast of Ponteix. She went to school in Ponteix and upon graduation went to teacher’s college in Moose Jaw. Her first teaching position was at Notekeu Creek School and she then moved onto other positions in south Carnduff, Gull Lake, and Swift Current. Lastly she was employed by the Regina Separate School Board from 1959-1977 when she superannuated. After many requests by the Regina School board she went back to teaching part-time for a few more years. During her years in Regina she obtained her Bachelor of Education Degree and she also attended the University of Larochelle in France. Simone loved to travel with her friends and made trips to Europe, Australia, New Zealand and many times to the USA. She also took a cruise through the Caribbean and another one on the Mediterranean. She also visited throughout Canada and really enjoyed her trip to the Maritimes. Simone came back to Ponteix every summer and all holidays and spent it with her sister Anna on her farm. She enjoyed helping Anna out with the work and with her three children. She took great joy in spoiling her three nephews and was lucky to also have her Brother Robert’s children (2 nieces and 2 nephews) who also lived in Ponteix and they enjoyed Auntie’s many visits. As these nephews and nieces grew up and married and had children the great nieces and nephews reaped the benefit of having such a wonderful aunt. This scene repeated itself and Aunty now had great-nephews and great- nieces to spoil. Simone spent her retirement in Regina and did volunteer work at the General Hospital. She also enjoyed visiting her many friends, knitting and reading. Simone was living at Queen Victoria Estates at her time of passing. Simone was predeceased by her brothers Robert and Roland Luron and her sister Anna Giroux. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will dearly miss her. The funeral was held October 14, 2009. Memorial donations may be made to Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home Safe Garden 428 2nd Ave. Ponteix Sask. S0N 1Z0. Lemieux Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
