Arne John Nilson, aged 82 years of Parkbeg, SK passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2011. He was predeceased by his mother, Josephine Nilson; sisters Dorothy Turner, Melinda Chelsberg, Florence Olson, and Evelyn Bermeister; and brother Obert Nilson. Arne was born April 8, 1929 and raised in the Parkbeg area. He moved to Moose Jaw in 1949. Throughout his life Arne pursued numerous careers – CPR section man, life insurance salesman, National Light and Power, school bus driver, BA Oil (where he worked for 15 years), and real estate salesman. Arne and Greta moved to the farm in 1967 to pursue farming full time. Besides farming Arne joined Ottawa Real Estate in 1995 and was still working until his passing. Arne will be sadly missed by his family: Greta (wife of 60 years), children Kris (Randy Winkler), Greg (Cindy) Nilson, Rhonda (Ryan Wenarchuk), and Rory (Kelly Bassingthwaite); eleven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Arne's life will be held at Minto United Church, 1036 Seventh Ave. N.W., Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Daryl Olson, Arne’s nephew, will officiate. The family would like to thank the staff of the Medical Ward at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital for the care Arne received and for the support that you gave his family.
