BENNETTS - Ethel Bronwen Bennetts born April 4th 1922 passed away quietly in her sleep on Aug 24th 2011. Ethel was predeceased by her parents Edward and Elizabeth Peterson and by husbands Carl Deg and Thomas Bennetts. Ethel is survived by her son Carl and his wife Terry Deg, grandchildren Lisa and her husband Cory Smart and their children Jaden, Callandra, Lexara and Tyson; Danielle and her husband John Piepgrass and son Sevastion. Also survived by step grandchildren Diane Crawford and her children Ashley, Kaelan and Aedan; Barbara and her husband Ben Settler and their children Alexander and Savannah. Ethel is also survived by a brother-in-law and numerous sisters-in-law. Ethel was born and raised in Cadillac Sk, where she attended school. Upon graduation she obtained a Teachers Certificate from Moose Jaw in 1942. Ethel taught various grades from 1 to 11 at Glen Bain for the next 34 years. In 1946 she married Carl Deg and they had one son Carl before her husband died following a tragic accident. Ethel also was a SGI agent and a License Issuer for some 28 years. In 1973 Ethel married Thomas Bennetts. Following her retirement from teaching Ethel became a full-time farm wife and loved to spend time gardening and with her flowers. When Ethel and Tom retired from the farm they built a house in Swift Current. In 1999 Ethel moved to Prince Albert where she loved to be surrounded by trees. Her major enjoyment was the time she had with her son and wife plus granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Ethel spent one winter in Arizona before failing health required one more move. This time to Calgary where she resided until her passing. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 2:00pm from the First United Church in Swift Current, SK with Reverend Sharon Ferguson-Hood officiating. Interment service was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. In Ethel's memory donations may be made to the Christian Blind Mission International, Box 800 Stouffville, ON L4A 7Z9.
