THORNE, ROBERT “BOB” R - It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert “Bob” Russell Thorne, 72, of Moncton, at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, following a courageous five year battle with cancer. Born in Sussex, he was the son of the late George R. and Lula (Lewis) Thorne. Bob was a retired truck driver with Canadian Linen & Uniform Service (20 years service) and a member of Truth Tabernacle of Greater Moncton. An avid vinyl record and hockey memorabilia collector, he was a Toronto Maple Leafs fan and enjoyed spending precious time with his family, especially his grandsons. Bob will be sadly missed by his wife of 50 years, Annie “Anne” (McFarlane) Thorne of Moncton and formerly of Sussex; children, Karen Thorne (Darren Whyte) and Kevin Thorne, both of Moncton; grandsons, Andrew Munroe of Tantallon, NS and Brandon Romard of Moncton; sisters, Millie, Ruby, Joan, Judy; brothers, Arnold, Charles, David, Doug, Bill, Wayne and Carl; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Beulah and brothers, Lloyd, Donnie, Brian and Ronnie.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Service at Truth Tabernacle of Greater Moncton, 50 Lonsdale Dr., on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 1:30 pm, Rev. John Woodcock officiating. Reception in the Church Hall following the service.
