It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mildred Gertrude Bennett of St. George’s, NL announce her passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook, NL on Wednesday, October 5th in her 86th year. A wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and friend. She leaves to mourn her children: Mary (Greg) Tait, Karen (Melvin) White, Lorraine (Don) Burton, Edward (Sharon), Perry (Joanne), Valerie (Larry), Heather (Dave), Marina (Chris) Falle, Eileen, Margaret (Brian) Colombe; brother Don (Doreen) Bennett; sisters: Kay (Jim) Cashin, Peggy (Edward) Williams; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Margaret Bennett; son Arthur; grandson Lindsey, sister Edith; brother Harold and ex-husband and friend Edward Bennett. The family will be receiving friends on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at St. Joseph’s Parish in St. George’s from where the funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Gerard Patry officiating. Interment will follow in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Shallop Cove. Following her burial a celebration of her life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion for family and friends. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Bay St. George Sick Children’s Foundation.
