It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our dear mother, Alexis Billard on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011 at the Halifax Infirmary.
Born in Glace Bay, Alexis was the daughter of the late Frank and Winnifred (Coffin) Tredwell. Lexie was a wonderful mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother, who lived for her husband and family. She loved to cook, bake and often shared meals with family and friends in the senior's complex where she lived. She was famous for her delicious homemade bread.
She is survived by her three sons, Ernest (Linda) Billard, Wayne Billard and Sheldon (Lydia) Billard; two daughters, Linda (Gary) Burke, Toronto, Wendy (Francis) Venedam, Kempt Head; daughter-in-law, Deborah Billard; brothers, Frank (Sylvia) Tredwell, Glace Bay, Robert (Marie) Tredwell, Niagara Falls, Ont.; sister, Sharon (Bill) Clarke, Glace Bay; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Murray Billard; daughter, Shannon; son, Dale; brothers, Earl and Allister Tredwell, a brother in infancy; sister, Mae Budge and niece, Shelly MacDougall.
Visitation for Lexie will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Patten Chapel with Rev. Michael Goodfellow officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay.
Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Society or a charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
