GALLANT, LEO J.J. - May 1, 1927 - October 5, 2011 - It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Leo Gallant. He went to meet his Saviour on the morning of October 5, 2011 at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital with family at his side. Leo J. J. Gallant was born May 1,1927 in Moncton, NB to Ben and Clara Gallant (Gallant). He is survived by his wife Dorothy (nee Giberson), children: Bruce (Suzanne) of Halifax, NS; Giselle Jackson (Barry) of Abbotsford, BC; Rhea MacDonald (David) of Winnipeg, MB; Morgan Fisher (Dale) of Irishtown, NB; Patti Lewis (Daniel) of Moose Jaw, SK; Leo (Kim) of Greer, SC; Robert Gallant of Moncton, NB, seventeen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two sisters Lucille Richardson of Toronto, ON and Lorraine Coyle (Barry) of Stony Creek, NB; two sisters-in-law Huberte (Gallant) Barr of Riverview, NB and Lois Tooke of Port Coquitlam, BC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Leo was predeceased by one son, one granddaughter, his parents Benoit and Clara Gallant, one sister Jeanette and three brothers Wilfred, Yvon and Arthur. Leo served his country in the Korean Conflict and completed a 25 year career as Military Police in the Canadian Armed Forces. His ready smile and gentle nature were loved and appreciated by many. His command of the Scrabble board was a force to be reckoned with.
A Funeral Service will be held in Moose Jaw, SK at the Moose Jaw Baptist Church on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. Pastor Roger Foust and Pastor Tim Friesen will officiate. A family interment will take place at the Veteran’s Section, Rosedale Cemetery, Moose Jaw, SK with reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Emmanuel Baptist Bible Institute, 187 McLaughlin Dr., Moncton, NB E1A4P4. A Memorial Service will be held in Moncton, NB at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 187 McLaughlin Dr. at a later date. Pastor Tim Friesen will officiate.
