EARLE, Winona Vivian – Age 90- It is with sadness that the family of Winona Earl of Pleasant Lake announce her passing on Thursday September 29, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Brooklyn, Yarmouth County, she was the daughter of the late Rupert and Bertha (Foote) Pitman of Brooklyn and wife of the late Lyman Earle. She enjoyed life and found great joy in the time spent with family and friends playing games especially cards. She also enjoyed knitting and quilting. She was a member of the Pleasant Lake United Baptist Church, a member of the former Women’s Auxiliary and an honorary lifetime member of the Women’s Missionary Society. Winona was a caregiver to a great many people including Jennie Pitman and Andrew and Dorothy Ricker of Glenwood. She is survived by her six children, Alice (Bob) Fowler of Cambridge, Ontario, Joan (Reigh) Smith of Kentville, Beverley Earle of Halifax, Terry (Sharon) Earle of Glenwood, Elizabeth (Peter) Earle of Modesto, California, and Tom (Elaine) Earle of Pleasant Lake. She was predeceased by her husband Lyman Earle and her son roger. She is also survived by 18 loving and caring grandchildren and their families; 30 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Clyde (Marion) Pitman of Brooklyn and predeceased by her brother Bowman (Dorothy) Pitman of St. John, sisters Alice (Ralph) Earle and Joyce (Gerald) Stoddard. Friends and family were invited to share their memories to celebrate Winona’s life during visitation on Sunday, October 2, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Sweeny’s Funeral home and Crematorium. A funeral service was held from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, October 3 at 2 p.m., Rev. Don Moses officiated. Interment was in Highland Plains Cemetery in Pleasant Lake Cemetery. No flowers by family request. Memorial Donations may be made to the Pleasant Lake United Baptist Church, or to charity of your choice.
