1917 - 2009 – Passed peacefully away on October 19, 2009, at Masonic Park Nursing Home, Phyllis Boyd (Baird) Winter. Phyl was the second eldest and last surviving child of Boyd and Annabella Baird. She was pre-deceased by her husband Gerald (Ged) in November 1996, her siblings Ross, Doug and Betsy, her daughter-in-law June and her nephew Andy Baird. She leaves to mourn her three sons: Keith (Marianne), Comox, B.C., John (Barbara), Vancouver, B.C. and Steve (Eleanor), St. John’s, N.L. She was grandmother to eight grandchildren: Gillian (Matt), Tim (Tara), Stephen (Kim), Christopher (Rozelle), Laura, Russell, Greg (Cara) and Martin (Andrea). She felt fortunate to have lived to see her seven great-grandchildren. Phyl also leaves to mourn her sister-in-law Hester Baird; nephew Dave (Jeanie) and their families; niece Deb (Steve); special family friends Jim and Bonnie Crawford; as well as other members of the Winter and Baird families. The family would especially like to thank the caring staff at the Masonic Parking Nursing Home. Cremation has taken place. Family will be receiving visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd. from 2 to 4 p.m. and
7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, October 22. Funeral service to take place on Friday, October 23 at 2 p.m. from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (The Kirk). Interment to follow in General Protestant Cemetery. No flowers by request. Donations in her memory may be made to the St. Andrew’s Church (The Kirk) or the Huntington Society of Canada.
