Grace Eileen Rushton, 88, of Truro passed away Oct. 20, 2009 at home. Born in Denmark, she was a daughter of the late James and Stella (Watt) Hayman. She was a member of the North River Choir. In later years she enjoyed the senior activities that involved dancing and she often played the keyboard. Grace loved to sing with her brother Arthur at various events from childhood until the present.
Her greatest loves were grandchildren, children and music. She is survived by daughter, Linda (Lawrence) Lynds, Great Village; son, Ronald (Brenda) Higgins, Mt. Thom, Pictou County; brothers, Arthur (Florence), North River; Carson (Marguerite), Truro; grandchildren, Bobbi Joe Lynds, Sean Lynds, Peggy Sue Higgins and Ali, Paula (Trevor) Stinson, Patricia Higgins, Billy Higgins, Matt and Jason Crosby; great-grandchildren, William, James, Devilin, Jacob, Griffin; sister-in-law, Polly Hayman, Truro; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother, Milton.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 23 from 7 to 9 p.m.; memorial service on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 11 a.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Ebbie W. Snow officiating. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery, Denmark. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Forest Hill Cemetery, Denmark.
