DIXON, JAMES FREDERICK - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved "Fred" of Moncton, on Saturday, October 8th, 2011, at The Moncton Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous three year battle with cancer. Devoted husband and best friend to Lynn (Marilyn) White-Dixon, formerly of Bathurst' and cherished father to Kim Dixon, Halifax; Chris (Tracy) Dixon, Riverview; Lori (Cyril) Lunney, Halifax and step-sons: Jonathan (Francene) Comeau, Halifax; Carl Comeau, Moncton. He leaves behind six adored grandchildren: Matthew and Bronwyn Dixon, Riverview, Dylan, Gillian, Megan Lunney, Halifax; and Alexander Comeau, Halifax. Also surviving are three brothers: Robert (Judy) Dixon, Moncton; David (Ann) Dixon, Sackville; and Leaman (Margaret) Dixon, Vancouver; father-in-law, Dr. Paul White, Seminole, Florida; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by his parents, Carmen F. Dixon and Marion Wells (Trueman) Dixon; a sister-in-law, Linda (Mackay) Dixon; and mother-in-law, Mrs. Marie White. Fred was born on December 5th, 1938 in Sackville, N.B. He was a graduate of R.C.S. Rothesay, N.B., and attended Mount Allison University, receiving a degree in commerce. He owned and operated several businesses as a broker in Food Service, particularly enjoying the contacts with many buyers and chefs throughout his career. Among Fred's passions were traveling, golf, gourmet cooking, and time relaxing at the cottage. He was an avid "duplicate Bridge" player, and will be remembered for his keen, dry wit, and love of debate. Always pleasant and generous, he was happiest when family and friends gathered around him to celebrate life. At this time of thanksgiving, we especially feel grateful for having had him in our lives. He will be missed by all who knew him, and the sparkle from his eyes will never fade.
A celebration of Fred's life will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 11:00am at Fair Haven Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial contributions may be made to the: Oncology Dept. at The Moncton Hospital, or a charity of one's choice.
