It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Emma MacIntyre on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Gabarus, she was the daughter of the late John and Agnes (MacLellan) MacIntyre.
Emma was a secretary by trade and was employed in Ontario until her retirement. She enjoyed bowling, and over the years, she was a volunteer with the Cancer Society and St. Vincent de Paul.
Emma is survived by her sisters, Mary (Robert) Eisen, Theresa (Gerald) Miller, both of Sydney, brothers, James MacIntyre, London, Ont., William (Lynn) MacIntyre, Gabarus; sister-in-law, Charlotte MacIntyre, Gabarus; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Emma was predeceased by her brothers, Dan Archie and John, sister-in-law, Betty MacIntyre.
There is no visitation by request. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with Fr. Paul McGillivray officiating.
Reception to follow. Interment to take place in St. Margaret’s Cemetery, Grand Mira South.
