GRIEMANN – Irene Gertrude of Swift Current, SK, passed away October 20, 2009 at the age 74 years at the Cypress Regional Hospital with her family by her side. She leaves to celebrate her memory, her husband Peter; daughters: Barb (Doug) Foy of Sylvan Lake, AB, Lori (Grant) Wittrock, of Swift current, SK; and son Gary (Connie) Griemann of Cold Lake, AB. She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren: Tara Foy, Devon (Angela) Foy, Wayne (Tasha) Griemann, Meghan (Austin) Wenger, Amanda Griemann, Alicia Wittrock, and Kayla Wittrock; great grandmother to Karson Foy, and Kaleigh and Kolton Griemann. Irene also leaves to cherish her memory one sister, Ev (Bud) Logel of Weyburn, SK; and one brother, Bob (Val) Duce of Red Deer, AB; one sister-in-law Susie (Bill) Marsh, Welwyn, SK; brothers-in-law, Alf Rederberg of Pangman, SK, Herman (Muriel) Griemann of Chilliwack, BC, Henry Griemann of Welwyn, SK, and Will (Judy) Griemann, of Sylvan Lake, AB; and many nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Eleanor Duce; her father and mother-in-law, Mike and Katherine Griemannl sisters-in-law, Mary Rederberg, June Griemann; and one nephew, Jack Logel. Irene was born March 10, 1935, at Brandon, MB. After attending school in Roughtwaite and Brandon, at the age of sixteen, she moved with her family to Welwyn, SK, where her family owned and operated a general store. On July 22, 1954, she married Peter Griemann of Welwyn, and celebrated their 55th anniversary this July. In 1974, Pete and Irene moved to Swift Current, where she worked at Home & Auto before starting a successful career in real estate, from which she retired and took up the hobby of quilting, which quickly dominated Irene’s waking hours. Irene’s memorial service was held in Moosomin, SK, on October 26, 2009, at Carscadden Funeral Home, with interment at Welwyn Cemetery. In memory of Irene donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or charity of your choice.
