NEW GLASGOW – Melda Evelyn MacGregor, 82, of Trenton Road, New Glasgow, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at home with her loving family by her side.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late George and Annie (Elliott) Fraser.
She was a former employee of D.R. MacLeod Drugstore and retired from Steeltown Pharmacy. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow where she was a former Sunday School teacher and choir member. She was a member of Golden Link Rebekah Lodge No. 2 and was a former volunteer with the Aberdeen Hospital Auxiliary. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and summers at the cottage.
She is survived by her husband. Roy; daughters: Janet (Brian) Hiscott, New Glasgow; Susan (Chuck) Stallard, New Glasgow; grandchildren: Greg Hiscott; Kristen Stallard; sisters: Pearl Baudoux, Riverton; Lola MacKenzie, Halifax; Audrey (Raymond) MacQuarrie, New Glasgow; sister-in-law, Betty Fraser, Amherst; niece and nephews and their families.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Douglas Fraser; brothers-in-law, Eldred Baudoux, Rev. Roy MacKenzie; sister-in-law, Jean and her husband, Nugent Ferguson.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service 2 p.m. Sunday in First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Burial will be in Church Brook Cemetery, Little Harbour.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or a charity of choice.
Golden Link Rebekah Lodge will meet at the funeral home at 1:45 p.m. Saturday to conduct their service.
