
Edward Gorman MacIsaac

At the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton, Alberta, on September 13, 2011, surrounded by his loving family, Edward Gorman MacIsaac of Edmonton peacefully passed away at the age of 83 years.
Edward was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. He graduated from Campion College in Regina and later attended the University of Alberta, Faculty of Pharmacy, graduating in 1953. He enjoyed a fulfilling career, serving the Edmonton community as a dedicated and well-respected pharmacist.
Edward married his loving wife Freda in 1954 and was her devoted husband for 57 years. ‘Ed’ was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Edward will be remembered most for his compassion and generosity. He was an enthusiastic storyteller with a delightful ‘offbeat’ sense of humour.
Edward is survived by his wife, Freda; only daughter Joan (Ian Reid) of Charlottetown; three sons, Ian (Kathy) of Edmonton, Doug (Wendy) of Calgary and Brian (Karen) of Calgary; and ten grandchildren: Patrick, Stephen and David Reid (Joan), Kevin, Christine and Shannon (Ian), Ryan and Scott (Doug) and Kristen and Jordan (Brian). He is also survived by his youngest brother Raymond (Alice) of Saskatoon and many nieces and nephews.
Edward was predeceased by his mother, Mary Frances (MacDonnell); father, Hugh Daniel; sister, Kathryn Freeman (Gale); and brother, Bernard (Teresa).
A prayer vigil service was held at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home on September 18, 2011. The funeral mass was held at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Edmonton on September 19, 2011.
The family extends sincere appreciation to the staff of Unit 10Y at the Edmonton General Continuing Care Center for their dedicated care during the past 18 months. They also thank the staff of 6 West, Robbins Pavilion, Royal Alexandra Hospital, for providing compassionate care to Edward and his family during Edward’s final days.
