ROCHE (JACKSON), CATHRYN LOUISE “KAY” “GIRLIE”- It is with great sadness the family announce the death of Cathryn Roche, devoted wife for 55 years of Albert Roche of Saint John which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday October 8th, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia April 17th, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (Mitchell) Jackson. In earlier years Cathryn worked in the canning and pickling industry in Nova Scotia working for Graves Canning and at McCreedys in Saint John. She was also a cook at the Star Lunch in Saint John. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, the Royal Canadian Legion, the Fusilier Club, South End Seniors Club and several bowling Leagues. Cathryn enjoyed time with family and friends; was kindhearted, always made you feel welcome and she always told it like it was. Besides her loving husband Albert, Cathryn is survived by brothers Carl (Irene) of Sarnia, ON, Norman of Saint John and Boyd (Diane) of Kingston, NS; one sister Norma LeBlanc of Sarnia, ON; a very special and devoted nieces Sylvia Seales (Ovid) of Willow Grove and Liz Grant “Mickey” of Aylesford, NS; several nieces, nephews great nieces and nephews; special sisters-in-law, Agnes Roche, Lillian Jackson and many friends. Besides her parents, Cathryn was predeceased by brothers, Melvin, Leonard, Herman, Earl and Maurice Jackson; and sisters, Betty Jackson and Dorothy MacDonald.
Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Thursday, October 13th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with a Legion Tribite to begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, October 14th at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Donations in Cathryn’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, SJRH Palliative Care Unit or to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
