It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Kathleen Irving, 50, of New Glasgow, announce that she passed away October 11, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital.
Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Bernie and Mae (MacDonald) Lynch.
Kathleen had been a resident of New Glasgow most of her life and lived and worked for a short time in Fort McMurray. Kathleen worked in the food and beverage industry, most recently at the Pantry Kitchen in Stellarton.
She is survived by her children, Chris (Rachael), New Glasgow; Michael (Christene), Stellarton; and Kerri (Joey White), Plymouth Park; their father, Robert Irving, her grandchildren Michael Irving and Claire White; brothers Kevin (Jackie) Lynch, Westville; Terry (Debbie) Lynch, Westville; sisters Colleen Llewellyn, Nackawic, NB; Jennifer Lynch (Jeremy Paris), Bermuda.
Kathleen was predeceased by her parents and sister Cheryl Lynch.
Kathleen’s children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. She was known for her bright smile and friendly, outgoing personality. She made many, many friends and kept them for life. The caring and support that they have shown through her struggle is deeply appreciated and will always be remembered by her family. Kathleen loved life and had a strong determination to live. Her strong will carried her through three years of illness with grace. Kathleen has set an example for all of us of how to deal with life’s adversities.
A special thank you is extended to the VON and to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital and to everyone else who helped with Kathleen’s care in the past few months. Also a thank you to the community and to all the family and friends who showed their support through the benefits held for Kathleen.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow with Father Gary MacPherson presiding. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Donations in memory of Kathleen may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Foundation Cancer Client Fund or to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital.
