Dorothy Bernetta MacKeigan, 83, a resident of the MacGillivray Guest Home, formerly, Upper Prince Street, Sydney, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Eli and Hettie (Hoban) Dunford.
Dorothy was a member of First United Church, Sydney.
Surviving are her husband, Hubert; daughter, Hettie (David) Sacre, Dartmouth; sons, Eion (Felecia), Edmonton and Brian (Shelly), Dartmouth; sister, Hetti (George) MacDonald, Sydney; sister-in-law, Arlene Dunford, Sydney; grandchildren, Shaun, Rachelle, Jessica, Ryan, Kohl and Cayden; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Andrew, Amy and Adam.
Dorothy was predeceased by her sister, Myra Canning and brothers, William, Joseph, Thomas and Jackie.
A funeral service will be held at First United Church on Friday 2 p.m., with Rev. Wade Reppert officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
