March 3, 1938 - October 3, 2011

It is with great love and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, and friend, David Keen Thomas on October 3, 2011.

Dave will be missed deeply by his daughters Tracy McGuinness and Kathleen Thomas, son-in-law David McPhillips, and his grandsons Brian McGuinness, Tommy Hickey, and Michael and Kevin McPhillips. He leaves them with his legacy of unconditional love and acceptance.

Dave is survived by his brothers Doug Thomas (Gayle) in Peachland, B.C., Dennis Thomas (Kathy) in Courtenay, B.C., and sister Deryl Simpson (Jim) in Montney, B.C.

Dave was born March 3, 1938 in Berwyn, Alberta. Upon leaving high school, Dave enlisted with the Canadian Air Force. After a couple of years in Ontario he relocated with his young family to Kamloops B.C., a place that he was proud to call home for most of his life. Dave was fortunate to have many life-long friends, in particular, Pete and Doris Durante, Randy and Jeannie Durante, and Fran and Bud Budarick. Also in Kamloops, Dave became close friends with Jess Town, a work colleague as well as a close friend. Dave was also lucky enough to meet Carol Payne in Kamloops. He and Carol shared many passions and good times and he loved her deeply.

Dave appreciated the thoughtfulness and generosity shown to him by Delano, Don, Gary, and Edna Candido during his illness. Dave and his family would especially like to recognize Dr. Paul Farrell for the compassion and care he extended to Dave throughout his illness, as well as the staff and volunteers at Kamloops Hospice House.

Dave will be remembered for his unswerving loyalty to his family and friends, his interest in matters far and wide, his determination to master the game of golf, and his pathological need to always be early.

We love you Dave;
you will be missed and
remembered with love.
