Passed away suddenly on Friday, October 7, 2011, along with her husband Lorne, Gladys King of St. John’s, age 68. Born August 7, 1943 on Sandy Point, St. Georges. Predeceased by her parents Albert and Stella Messervey, sister Verlie, and brother Gary. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her three sons: Tony Russell, Fort McMurray, AB, Paul Russell (Jen), Gander, Troy Russell (Terri), St. John’s; two stepsons: David King (Heather, Josh and Sharri), Rockford, MI, and Jeffrey King (Regine), Frankfurt, Germany; sisters: Marina Smith (Jim), Guelph, ON, Jean Hudson (Ken), Pouch Cove, Bonnie Mills (Al), Moncton, NB, Cavell Gibson (Dennis), Edmonton, AB, Ena Shanklin (Dave), Bangor, ME, Odell Codner (Hubert), Torbay, Karen Foster (Cyril), Edmonton, AB; brother Albert Messervey (Madeline), Cole Harbour, NS; and her three cherished grandchildren: Paul Jr., Johnny, and Ashley, also step-sisters: Joanne Mullen (Dartmouth, N.S.) and Shirley Falle, St. Georges, NL; as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home 328 Hamilton Avenue on Friday, October 14th from 10 am – 12 pm, 2 pm – 4 pm and 7 pm – 9 pm, and Saturday, October 15th from 10 am – 12 pm. Service to be held at Barrett’s Chapel 328 Hamilton Avenue on Saturday, October 15th, at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Stella Burry Foundation.
