Francis (Frank) Joseph Mundy, 68, of Amherst and formerly of Edmonton, AB passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at home with his loving partner by his side.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he was a son of the late Thomas and Henrietta (McQuilan) Mundy.
Most of his life Frank resided in Scotland until he immigrated to Edmonton, AB in 1967, where he was employed as a plumber and pipefitter. Frank held several leader positions during his career. Following his retirement, Frank worked for Canadian Tire in the Hardware Department in Amherst.
Frank was an avid Celtic football Club (Soccer) Supporter and also coached several soccer teams as well as played soccer throughout his life.
He was well known for his great sense of humour and his Scottish accent.
Frank leaves behind to mourn, his loving partner, Elaine Gamble; daughter, Frances (Paul Raymond) Mundy; and, son, Stephen Mundy both of Edmonton, AB; he is also survived by Elaine’s children, Bob (Bonnie) Gamble and Roger Gamble both of Amherst; Sarah (Cory Baker) Gamble, Edmonton, AB, Lisa (Lee) Gilbert, Amherst and Diana (Andrew) Hurley, Springhill; four grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family both in Canada and Scotland.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas, Peter, and James; sisters, Nancy and Iza.
His remains are resting in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church Str., Amherst (667-9906) with visiting on Friday, October 14, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday at 2 p.m. from Campbell’s Chapel with Deacon Howard Gotell officiating. Cremation will follow after the service.
Donations in Frank’s memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
