Age 46. Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family on October 20, 2009. Clarence leaves us after a brief but courageous battle with brain cancer. Predeceased by his father Brendan and sister Nita. He leaves with fond and loving memories his devoted wife Darlene; best friend and son Jesse; his mother Catherine; brother France (Mary Ann); sisters: Rose (Eric McNeil) and Carina (Mike Jardine); parents-in-law Leo and Betty Pennell; sisters-in-law: Tami, Cheryl (Bruce Gallant), Becky (Dan Riordan) and Heather (Perry Penney); brothers-in-law Scott (Deidre) and Dave Chambers. Also will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and a large circle of relatives and friends.
Clarence was a physical education teacher and coach for over 21 years. He gave his life to working with children. His true love was basketball but he also helped coach various hockey and soccer teams as well. He lived his lifelong dream at various schools including: Stella Maris, Trepassey, St. John Bosco, Shea Heights and most recently St. Kevin’s High School in the Goulds. Clarence will be remembered for instilling in all of us the importance of kindness and goodwill to our fellow human beings.
Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday and from 10 a.m. - 12 noon, 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday. Funeral Mass to be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2009 from the Basilica of St. John the Baptist. Interment to follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are being gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to the Clarence Sutton Memorial Scholarship Fund for St. Kevin’s High School.
