Stangland-Jerry Eugene, of Neidpath, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2011 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina at the age of 74. Jerry leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Shirley and their 4 children. Son, Gene (Angela) of Davidson and their children- Dexter (Claudia) daughter Chloe, Cody and Dakota of Medicine Hat, Kristy (Ash) son Brighton and Finley, Chase (Kristen), Lindsey, Josh (Erin) of Regina. Son, Keith of Moose Jaw, Daughter Kathy (Gerald) Watson of Calgary and Daughter Lana (Wade) Empey of Swift Current and their children, Bailey (Andy) and Shanna of Swift Current. Also Jerry's Sister Dolores (Ray) Banks of Peterborough Ontario and their family. Brother-in-law Art Boehm of Kelstern and his family. His father and mother-in-law Walter and Sophie Hessler of Morse. Sister and Brother-in-law Sharon (Mervin) Stanley of Calgary and their family. Jerry is predeceased by his parents Herman and Evelyn Stangeland and sister Bev Boehm. Jerry was born on his Grandpa Ed Jacobson's farm at Neidpath, Saskatchewan on September 24, 1937.
He attended Luxor school in Neidpath and later in life started a career in road construction with Eden Paulson and then Thompson Construction. This is where he met his future wife Shirley Hessler of Kestern. They were married April 22, 1960. During this time they lived in a trailer on the road throughout Southern Saskatchewan. In the fall of 1962 they started farming and continued until Jerry
retired in the spring of 2009. Jerry loved his cattle and enjoyed fishing and was very excited about getting his new boat on the water. He was an avid Bronco's fan and held season tickets for many years. Jerry loved to watch the Rider football games and watched his favorite team the Toronto Maple Leafs play. Jerry served on the Luxor school board and the Neidpath hall board. He had also had been a councilor of the R.M. of Lawtonia for 19 years and was also a Hodgeville Elks member. The funeral for Jerry was held on Friday October 14, 2011 at 2:00 in the afternoon at St. Olaf's Lutheran
Church. Ushers were Gerald Berg and Dave Bulbeck. Pallbearers were all the grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry's coffee buddies.
