It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth St. George age 90. Mary passed away at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney on Friday, October 23, 2009 where she had been a resident.
Born in Glace Bay and formerly of Westmount, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Doucett) Arsenault. Mary was a former member of Holy Rosary Church, Westmount and a member of St. John's Church, Glace Bay. She was employed at Rosenblums Ladies Wear in Glace Bay and also was employed at The Smart Shop in Sydney retiring after 25 years of service. She loved to travel.
Mary is survived by her sister, Annie Mae Bates, Glace Bay; special niece, Leone Brown, Glace Bay and several other nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Henry; brother, Stanley; sisters, Lizzie Holloway, Ella Frances Arsenault, Rita Arsenault and Clare Rankin.
Visitation for Mary St. George will be held Monday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at St. John's Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney.
