It is with profound sadness that we the family announce the passing of A. Josephine McMaster age 85 of Amherst on Monday, October 17, 2011 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 20, 1926 in Halfway River Nova Scotia, she was a daughter of the late Cecil Crouse and Lena (Glode) Gilroy.
In her younger years, she was employed with Canada Car.
During her lifetime, she was an advocate for the Native Community in Halfway River.
Josephine was a caring and kind individual and found great pleasure in spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Terry (Bernice), Sackville, NB, Donna McMaster (Terry) and Ann (Robert) Crossman both of Dorchester, NB and Dean, Toronto, ON; grandchildren, Chrissy, Jamie, Scott and Matthew; great grandchildren, Alexa, Sophie and Matthew; siblings, Donald, Leicester, NS, Harold (Effie), Salisbury, NB, George (Joyce), Stanley, NS, Francis (Croydon) Wood, Parrsboro, NS, Evelyn Maddison, Stanley, NS, Phyllis Chapman and Carol Moore both of Amherst; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Josephine was predeceased by her husband, J. Earl in 1993; sister, Leona Patterson; and brother James Glode.
Her remains are resting in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with visiting on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 from 7-9 p.m.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Campbell’s Chapel with Rev. Byron Corkum and Deacon Howard Gotell officiating. Josephine will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Parrsboro United Church Cemetery.
Memorial donations in Josephine’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
