Robert Sheppard, 65, of 35 Poplar Lane, Eskasoni, formerly of Corner Brook, N.L., passed away Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, in Newfoundland.
Born in Corner Brook, he was the son of Mr. Hubert Sheppard of Corner Brook and the late Joan (Butler) Sheppard.
He was a member of Holy Family parish, Eskasoni, and an adherent of the Church of England.
A carpenter by trade, Robert had a passion for boat building. He was an avid outdoors enthusiast who worked as a guide in the 60s and 70s in Newfoundland. He was a strong supporter of the parish having built the steeple and renovated the church.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet Denny-Sheppard; sons, Robert Sheppard Jr., St. John’s, N.L., Brian Sheppard, Dartmouth, Robin Denny, Colin Denny, Blair Denny, all of Eskasoni; daughters, Tracey (Warren) Pye, Jacqueline Sheppard, both of Corner Brook; Wendy Sheppard-Picco (Paul), Calgary; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild; brother, Carl (Linda) Sheppard, Corner Brook; and sisters, Roslyn (Melvin) Mercer, Sylvia (Harvey) Hawkins, Lillian Hann (Monty Allen), all of Corner Brook.
Visitation for Mr. Sheppard will take place Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, after 7 p.m. at the family residence, 35 Poplar Lane, Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church with Rev. Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
