At his home, surrounded by his loving family, Roger died peacefully on Oct. 16, 2011, at the age of 59.
He was the beloved husband of Christine; and cherished father of Holly, Sarah, Caroline and Patrick. Roger is also survived by his brother, Colin and nephew, Daniel from Nottingham, England. His in-laws, Trevor and Edna Scott also live in Nottingham and were frequent visitors for many years to Cape Breton. Also remembering Roger are his brothers-in-law, Adrian and Graeme of Nottingham; and special friends, Bruce and Lillian Andrews of Sydney River.
Born April 15, 1952, in Nottingham, Eng., Roger attended Technical College, graduated, and began working on his engineering career. He met and married Christine, and shortly after they emigrated to Canada in 1980.
Roger’s work career has encompassed being a draughtsman for Acres Engineering, an instructor at the Vocational School on Prince Street, and most recently working for Cape Breton University, both in Sydney and at the Cairo Campus in Egypt.
Roger was a devoted husband to Christine and a loving father for his children who have been guided and supported by an exceptional man. His family were the light of his life and they have rewarded him in many ways over the years; they count themselves lucky beyond measure to have had such a wonderful man in their midst. He will be sorely missed and forever in their thoughts.
