We, the family of Alvin John Pattingale, regret to announce the passing of our dear brother on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney.
Born in Alder Point on June 28, 1932, he was the son of the late John and Sadie (Richards) Pattingale. He was a member of St. Anne’s parish, Alder Point.
Alvin sailed on the Great Lakes for 30 years, where he proudly worked as a chef. He had a great love for flowers, gardening, and animals, and especially enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels.
He is survived by his sisters, Georgina Lovell, Florenc and Pearl (Murdock) MacPherson, Alder Point; his brother, Gordon, Kitchener, Ont., and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Alvin was predeceased by sisters, Evelyn MacNeil, Doris MacDonald and Eileen Clarke and brothers, William, Alfred, Raymond and Nelson.
There will be no visitation. A mass celebrating his life will be held Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church, Alder Point, with Fr. Peter MacLeod officiating. The burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bras d’Or.
