OLIVE BADGER

Olive Audrey Badger (Ruddy) passed away October 17, 2011. Olive was born in Moose Jaw on August 29, 1927 and grew up on a ranch in the Wideview district. She received her education at Alloha School, and by Government correspondence, working in Moose Jaw from 1945 until 1953 when she married Oscar Badger. They farmed at Grainland, moving to Kelso in 1964. They were blessed with son Thomas in 1958. Olive and Oscar moved to Moose Jaw in 1994. Predeceased by her husband Oscar in 1996, mother Gladys Ruddy (Beckman) in 1944, foster father Bill Plant in 1951, foster sister Jean Stenbraaten (Plant) in 1979, sister-in-law Betty Carey (Badger) in 1997, and brother-in-law Gordon Badger in 2005, she is survived by her son Thomas (Cher), companion Norman Hurtig, family friend Harry Baker; nieces and nephews Elaine Stenbraaten (Chris Eken), Dwain (Edie) Stenbraaten, Sylvia Johnson, Edwin (Lucille) Nicholson, and Clinton (Doris) Nicholson. Olive enjoyed many lifelong friends, and a good life on the farm. She also enjoyed many hobbies including sewing, knitting, crocheting, tatting, macramé, and reading. The Funeral Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Friday October 21, 2011 at 1:30 pm. Pastor Doug Shepherd will officiate. Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St.W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2, would be appreciated. In living memory of Olive, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W.
