Jim was born in Glasgow, Scotland to James and Eleanor Short and passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on October 16th, 2011.

He is survived by his loving family, wife Ivy, daughters Elizabeth Folk (Rick), Eleanor Clovechok, and Karen Short (Tim Smith), grandchildren Kevin and Andrea Folk and Kelsey Clovechok. Also survived by his brother John (Billie) in Glasgow and by many loving nieces and nephews.

Jim grew up in Glasgow during World War II and joined the RAF at age 17. After the war he worked with Coca Cola prior to joining the Glasgow Fire Brigade. In 1951, he met Ivy while ballroom dancing in Glasgow, and found his dance partner for a lifetime. Jim and Ivy were married in 1953, and began their family in 1956 with the arrival of twin daughters Elizabeth and Eleanor. In 1966, the family immigrated to Canada for a better life, and made their home in Kamloops where youngest daughter Karen was born in 1969.

Jim worked for NOCA Dairies/Dairyland for many years and made many friends with co-workers and customers. He helped coach his daughter's softball teams and enthusiastically followed all of his children's and grandchildren's activities. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and enjoyed curling at the Kamloops Curling Club, and playing golf with his friends for many years. In his retirement, Jim and Ivy spent many happy winters in Yuma, Arizona.

Jim will always be loved and remembered by his family and friends for his generous nature, his quick wit, good humour and hearty laugh.

A Celebration of Jim's life will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Schoening Funeral Chapel, 513 Seymour Street.
