CONNORS (Reeves), Shirley Margaret – 69, of Cambridge, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2011, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Berwick, she was the daughter of the late George and Florence (Usher) Reeves. Shirley always made an effort to support her community in any way that she could whether it be by attending community fundraisers or benefit auctions. She will be remembered for her readiness to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Shirley cherished her time with friends as she joined them at BINGO or on a trip; she especially enjoyed her vacation in Newfoundland. As well you could see Shirley at any of the local exhibitions and her family remembers her catching buses or traveling with friends to go anywhere from Windsor to Bridgewater; she loved socializing. Shirley is survived by her son, George, Halifax; daughter, Sheila (Richard) Pierik, Cambridge; granddaughter, Tara, Cambridge; brothers, Ron (Marilyn) Reeves, Berwick; Leon (Pat) Reeves, Harold (Ruth) Reeves; Henry (Fran) Reeves, all from Cambridge; sister, Evelyn (Ralph) Sabean, Berwick; sister-in-law, Linda Reeves, New Minas; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, LeRoy; brother, Walter Reeves; sister, Betty Reeves. A visitation was held on Tuesday September 6, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, Berwick, from where the funeral service took place on Wednesday September 7, at 2 p.m. Reverend Marilyn Rose officiated internment was in the Berwick Cemetery. Donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
