Walter J. Melanson, 78
Mr. Walter (Dodo) J. Melanson of Danvers Mass, USA, passed away Saturday Oct 15, 2011, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born, raised and educated in Sackville NB, Canada, and was the son of the late Fred and Emma (Gould) Melanson. He immigrated to the United States in 1967 and settled in Danvers.
Walter served in the Canadian Army having seen action in Korea during the Korean War.
Walter was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who had a passion for cars and guitars.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Margaret J (Amos) Melanson, two daughters, Cheryl MacLean and her husband Daniel of Peabody and Tracy Thomas and her husband Lonnie of Beverly, a son Rickey Lewis and his wife Shelly Mullins of Moncton; his grandchildren, Daniel MacLean and his wife Nicole, Jodi MacLean and Jake and Emma Thomas, all of Beverly, Mass. two brothers, Fred Melanson of Sackville NB and Gerald Melanson of Cambridge Mass and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Susan Melanson, a sisiter Dorothy Montgomery, brothers Jude, Clarence (Kit), Raymond (Jake).
