Helen passed away on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, after a short illness, surrounded by family at the Glace Bay Hospital. Her greatest joys in life were home, family and her beloved dog.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Donalda (Webb) MacIntyre.
She served with the Royal Canadian Air Force and finished her working career in 1973 as a long term employee of Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital in Sheet Harbour. She was a member of St. Anthony’s parish and Branch 3 Royal Canadian Legion.
Helen is survived by her four sons, Bernard (Josee), Lower Sackville, Shawn (Paula), Leaf Rapids, Manitoba, Thomas, Calgary, Alta., Stephen, Halifax; two daughters, Ann Marie (William) Gould, Glace Bay, Ellen, Calgary, Alta.; three sisters, Colleen, Sally and Lois; one brother, Donald; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, three sisters, Rita, Lorraine, Ramona, one brother, Vincent, one great-grandson, MacKenzie.
There will be no visitation by Helens’ request. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24 at St. Anthony’s Church, Glace Bay, with the Rev. Norman MacPhee officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery with a reception, in the church hall, to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
