With profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother “Oma”. Helen passed away at the Saskatoon Royal University Hospital on Tuesday, October 18th, 2011. Helen at the age of 91, was predeceased by her beloved husband Russell (1988), son Brian (1972), great-grandaughter Sophie Nizinkevich (2008). She is also predeceased by her brothers Henry, Herb and Art Bielefeld, sister Ella Young, her brothers in-law Harold, Walt, Cliff, Gene and Ronnie Goettler and sister in-law Hazel Lee. Survived by her daughters, Sheran (Larry) Wilkins, Diane Goettler, Leanne (Miles) Williams. Grandchildren Dana (Cara) Wilkins, Tanya (Dwayne) Nizinkevich, Donette (Larry) Mason, Corie Bull. Great Grandchildren Jamie, Dayna, Hannah Wilkins, Larry, Terra Mason, Evan Nizinkevich. Sisters in law Margaret Peterson, Lyla Wensley. Niece Linda (Terry) Senft and many other nieces and nephews. Mom was born to Martin and Sophie Bielefeld in Moose Jaw, on September 6th, 1920. She grew up on the family farm near Rowletta, SK. As a young woman she taught school at Midale, SK and Premier School at Rowletta, SK. She married Russell Goettler on April 24th 1943 and they were stationed at Montreal, QC, and later in North Battleford, SK. They settled on the family farm near Keeler, SK where Mom was involved in the U.C.W., the Farmers Union, the 4H Club, Grandmothers Club, and many other community activities. In 1967, Mom and Dad moved to Moose Jaw where she worked at Extendicare and Valley View while continuing to farm. After her retirement in 1980, Mom and Dad enjoyed traveling and made many new friends. In 2005, due to health issues, Mom moved to Saskatoon and lived with Larry and Sheran until her passing on Tuesday. Family and friends are invited to Parkview Funeral Chapel, on Monday, October 24th, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. for a celebration of Helen’s life with the Rev. Marvin Seaborg officiating. Following the service, Helen will be laid to rest beside Russell and Brian at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to the Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
