It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth MacDonald, age 67, of Glace Bay. Kenneth passed away on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011 at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Richard and Katherine (Wadden) MacDonald. Kenneth was employed with various construction firms as a boilermaker and carpenter. He also was an employee with the Cape Breton Development Corporation with the railroad department, truck driver and coal miner. In his retirement he worked at the Heather Lanes. He enjoyed bowling, working with his hands, which included wood working, mechanical and electrical projects. He loved to play Tarabish with friends and neighbours. Kenneth also loved his cats.
Kenneth will be sadly missed by his wife, Barbara (Lawless); sons, John, Ken (Laurie), Charles (Candace); stepson, Darren (Elaine); stepdaughter, Andrea (Evan); sisters, Margie Godin, Nina (Archie) MacMullin; goddaughter, Stephanie; cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Justine, Bria, Sasha, Liam, Jordan, Riley, Kolton, Mathew, Emma, Kaela and Cameron.
In honouring Kenneth’s wishes, cremation will take place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
