Arthur Cambers

CAMBERS, ARTHUR J. - Arthur J. Cambers, 90, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Thursday evening, October 20, 2011. Born in England, he was the son of the late Frederick and Kate (Chandler) Cambers. Arthur was retired from the CNR with 37 ½ years service, having worked in the Greenhouse and as a printer operator and was a member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church and former member of the Church Vestry. He was a Veteran of WWII having served with the British Royal Air Force stationed in Canada, was a member of the CNR War Veterans Association and a founding member of the 31 Club. Arthur enjoyed fishing, darts, gardening, cards and spending precious time with his family. Arthur will be sadly missed by his children, Betty Hood (late Fred) of Fredericton, Fred (Florence) of Newcastle, ON, Judith of Moncton, Brian (Jean) of Riverview and Gregory (Susan) of Moncton; grandchildren, Kimberly Walker (Kelly), Karen Hood, Vicki Collichia (Robert), Christine Currie (Josh), Brent Cambers (Jennifer), Christopher Cambers, Alison Eagles (Chris), Mark Cambers and Jamie Cambers (Catherine); great grandchildren, Jeffrey, MacKenzie, Megan, Nicholas, Joshua, Samual, Isabel, Molly, Noah, Aaron, Samantha, Jordan, Justin and Liam; several nieces and nephews. Arthur was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie E. (Crandall) Cambers (September 2011); granddaughter, Heather; great granddaughter, Jordan; brothers, Fred and Leslie; sisters, Ada and Ella.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 1:30 pm, Rev. Roderick Black officiating. Interment immediately following the service at Elmwood Cemetery. Reception at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church (Elmwood Drive) on Monday at approximately 2:45to 3:00 pm.
