
Mary Shaw
SHAW, MARY ELIZABETH - The death of Mary Elizabeth Shaw of Fredericton, NB, occurred at the York Manor Nursing Home on Thursday, October 20th, 2011. Born in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of the late James and Pauline Wood. She was raised by her foster parents the late Arthur and May Wood. She was married to the late Maxwell L. Shaw for 47 years. Mary was a secretary for the Provincial Health Department. She and Max lived in Saint John, NB, from 1963 to 1972 where both of their children were born. They returned to Fredericton, and she focused on raising her family. “The only thing she ever wanted in life” to be a Mom. When her children got older she worked part –time at Joe’s Diner for several years until it was time to babysit her grandchildren. Mary enjoyed bowling, in her younger days and had a lifelong love of baseball and hockey. She often attended live local games as well as following games on TV especially the New York Yankees. She also loved to play forty-fives and crib. She volunteered at South Devon School, Christ Church Cathedral Hall, canvassed door to door for various charities and was a member of the Y’s Menettes in her earlier years. Survived by one daughter, Hilary Randall; one son Evan Shaw, two grandchildren, Jared and Shawn Randall; one half sister, Susan DuPlacey (John) NB; cousin and close friend, Betty Crowley all of Fredericton.
There will be no visitation by request. The Funeral Service will be held at the Christ Church Cathedral on Tuesday, October 25th, 2011 at 11:00 am The Very Rev. Keith Joyce will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Anglican Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Parkinson Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
