Annie left us on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, after a short stay at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her as a mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend.
Annie was born in Sydney Mines, June 11, 1940, one of 11 children of the late John and Blanche (Mills) Cholock. Annie was a member of St Puis X parish. At an early age Ma had to quit school when her mother took ill to take care of her younger siblings and get their father and older brothers off to work in the pit. After their mother recovered Ma then married Da and they raised their own family together. In addition to being a dedicated homemaker Ma also ran a neighbourhood store from our home. Annie was well known for her clean house, great cooking and yummy baking. Ma always loved a hot cup of tea and a “good” smoke!
Annie was predeceased by her husband of 39 years Thomas Leroy ‘Dickie’ Cousins; brothers, Hubert and |George Cholock; brothers-in-law, Kenny Cosman and Burt Bradley.
Annie is survived by her sons, Jack (Elaine), Ricky (Sharon), Brian (Terra), all of Sydney Mines and her only daughter, Lisa (Steven) MacEachern, Ontario and her grandchildren, Blake, Morgan, Iain and Regan.
Sisters and brothers left to mourn are, Mary Cosman, Helen Clarke (Collie MacDonald), Michael (Rose) Cholock, Frances Bradley, Dorothy (Billy) MacIntyre, Patty (Paul) Lamey, Barbara (Gordie) Walker and Lenny (Florence) Cholock; sisters-in-law, Carmie and Helen Cholock; numerous nieces and nephews and the extended cousins families.
There will be no visitation. A mass celebrating her life will be held Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 10 a.m. in St Puis X Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating. The burial will be in Trinity Cemetery, Tobin Road, Sydney Mines, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia or a charity of ones choice.
