Trenton - Terence “Terry” Peter Gouthro, of Forge Street, Trenton, passed away peacefully in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit surrounded by family on Saturday, October 22, 2011.
Born May 13, 1938 in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton, he was a son of the late Stella (Gouthro) MacDonald and step son of the late Ivy MacDonald. Terry spent most of his life in Trenton. He was employed by Hawker Siddley in early years. He played ball for several years and was an avid Yankees fan. Terry also loved hockey. He was a goal judge for several years for the Junior B. Hockey Team in the Trenton Rink and his favourite NHL team was the Detroit Red Wings.
Terry is survived by: his brother Mike (Kathy) MacDonald; nephew Chris (Jill) MacDonald; great nephew Nick Turnbull; uncles: Stan (Rose) Gouthro, New Glasgow; Alfie Gouthro, Sydney Mines; aunts: Rita Boutilier; Tully (Jim) MacDonald and Yvette Gouthro, of Sydney Mines; special friend Dorrie Farrell; several cousins. He was predeceased by uncles: Eddie, Peter and Amby Gouthro; Jerry Boutilier; aunts: Sandra and Edna Gouthro, of Sydney Mines.
There will be no visitation by Terry’s request. Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, October 26 in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, Forge Street, Trenton with Father Gary MacPherson officiating. Interment will be in Christ the King Cemetery following the service. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or a charity of choice.
