SWEENEY, Eleanor Corena (Graves) – 96, of 187 Argyle St. Yarmouth N.S. passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on October 14, 2011 at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Aylesford NS she was the daughter of the late Hedley & Corena Graves (Patterson). Eleanor was a long time member of the Chegoggin Baptist Church and played the organ there for many years. She attended Normal College in Truro NS and taught school for five years in Dempsey Corner and Hebron N.S. A loving mother and farm wife, she contributed to the family farm for 40 years. She will be sadly missed by sons Lloyd (Joy) Chegoggin NS, Philip (Marjorie) Chegoggin NS, David (Leane) Cedar Lake, NS, Darrell (Simone) Chegoggin NS; daughter Evelyn Lemoine (Mike) Ottawa ON. She dearly loved her 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren as well as her many nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her sister Elizabeth Kerrigan of Berwick NS. Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband G. Ivan Sweeney of Chegoggin, by her infant son Douglas and also by sisters, Evelyn Graves, Hilda Gould, Sylvia Claiter & brothers Reginald & Raymond Graves. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home 567 Main St. Yarmouth NS with visitation held Sunday, October 16 from 2-4 & 7-9. Funeral service was held Monday October 17 at 2pm from Sweeny’s Chapel, Pastor Paul Parks officiated. Burial was in the Chegoggin cemetery following the funeral.
