It is with great sadness that we announce that a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away in the An Cala unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Monday, Oct. 24, 2011.
Born in Louisbourg, Aug. 2, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Sarah (MacLean) MacIntyre.
She was employed at the National Sea Products fish plant in Louisbourg as a fish packer for 17 years retiring in 1987.
Mary was a member of the First United Church, Louisbourg and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62 for 53 years.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Sandra at home, Darlene (Albert) Leahy, Louisbourg; grandchildren, John, Marla, Scott, Jody, Simon and Alyssa; eight great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews .
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Arthur H. Dominey (2006); son, Arthur J. Dominey (2010); brother, Malcolm MacIntyre (1994) and sister, Christie Kirby (2006). She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the An Cala Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, for the care and compassion shown towards our mother.
By her request, cremation has taken place and there is no visitation.
Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011 at First United Church, Louisbourg with Rev. Matthew Fillier officiating. Interment to follow in Willow Grove Cemetery, Louisbourg.
